Welcome to Grange Elementary!

July 1st Update:

I hope everyone's summer is off to a great start!  I have a few summer reminders to share with you.  Report cards are now available to view online. Please visit BCPS One and select the Student Information tile.  Then, click on Grade Reporting. Here, parents can see general information, attendance and report grades. More information can be found here: Retrieving_Report_Card_Grades_in_BCPS_One-Students_and_Parents-5-7-20.pdf

My second reminder is regards to registration and shared domiciles. If your child is registered for school using a shared domicile, it must be renewed annually. Please log on to the BCPS homepage at www.bcps.org to renew and provide updated documentation. All shared domiciles must be renewed by July 31st. New student registration is also available on the BCPS homepage.

Finally, BCPS's Summer Learning Hike has begun! All BCPS students have access to this exciting summer learning opportunity. Please log on to BCPS One and select Summer Learning Hike.

Although the school building remains closed, our office is now open to answer phone calls only between the hours of 8 and 2:30. Please call us at 410-887-7043 if you have any questions. You can also continue to email me at rdavis6@bcps.org. Thank you so much!

From Grange Staff: Since we couldn't say goodbye in person, we made a special video! Have a great summer!

From Ms. Popp: I am happy to share with you Grange’s first virtual art exhibition! Below you will find four links that will take you to different virtual art galleries featuring our students’ artworks. It is important to showcase and celebrate the artwork that was created during this school year as well as the work that was made during Remote Learning. I am so very proud of all our student artists!

From Ms. Miller: Our fifth grade Dance and Drama Club members were all very sad that they would miss their spring show this year.  But they showed their tenacity, resilience, and creativity by making the first ever Grange virtual performance.  They worked together (some planning behind the scenes, others by being in front of the cameras)- from writing communications, to creating dialogue sequencing, to brainstorming ideas- they truly showed how to work as a team to make a student created project.  And while its not the “usual” experience, they were able to think outside the box and make something beautiful in a time of uncertainty.  I am so proud of them and the amazing people they are growing up to be!

Update as of May 29, 2020:
Dear Team BCPS families and staff,

All families can check in with your child’s school for information about end-of-year celebrations.

Switching gears, we’ve received questions about how to register new students for Preschool through Grade 12 during this closure.  We are working on an online student registration process, and we will let you know when it’s ready.

We also have two calendar updates.  First, schools and offices will be operating remotely on Tuesday, June 2, instead of closing for the Maryland Presidential Primary Election.  Second, the last day of school will now be Friday, June 19. Calendar updates that have been approved by the Board of Education are available online.

Finally, we continue to make progress on the Recovery Plan to guide our next steps from summer into the next school year.

Please take care!

Sincerely,

Update as of May 22, 2020:
Dear Team BCPS families and staff,

I want to start with a reminder that we will observe Memorial Day this coming Monday, May 25.  Meals will not be distributed on Monday, and our remote schools and offices will be closed.

I want you to enjoy the long weekend.  But please remember that there should be no gathering on BCPS property at any time with the exception of meal distribution, which will resume on Tuesday, May 26.

As we near the end of the school year, I’m sure you have questions about what’s next.  I am so happy to announce that for the first time, BCPS will be offering online summer programs for all students currently in Preschool through Grade 11.  The purpose will be offering the chance for students to review reading and math content from the current school year.  The Preschool and Pre-K program offers reading, while the programs for Kindergarten through Grade 11 will focus on reading and math.  We’ll have more information for you about our summer programs in the coming weeks.

Looking farther ahead, leaders from across the organization are beginning to develop our Recovery Plan with safety foremost in mind.  This is a comprehensive process, and we will be seeking feedback from the community.  Please stay tuned.

As always, updates are available at www.bcps.org, and we are providing translations in 11 languages.

Please take care!

Sincerely,

Darryl L. Williams

Superintendent

Our school is composed of a group of talented and dedicated teachers and staff who go above and beyond every day to ensure that the students who attend our school leave ready to lead.  Along with the Grange faculty, the PTA is dedicated to both children and the community that surrounds Grange.  Programs such as our winter and spring musicals, our Art Show, field day and STEAM night are just a few of the many events that help bring the students, parents, staff and community together for one great cause - student achievement!!

Built in 1960, Grange Elementary School is located in the Southeastern corner of Baltimore County, the county which surrounds the metropolitan city of Baltimore, Maryland. We are supported by our active PTA and incredible volunteers!
