The Geneva Declaration on Armed Violence and Development strives to achieve measurable reductions in the global burden of armed violence by 2015.

The adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development represented the fulfilment of one of the key goals of the Geneva Declaration. For this reason, the GD ceased to be an active political process at the end of 2015 [萤火虫vpn]. Nevertheless, the work continues on supporting the measurement and implementation of Goal 16 of the 2030 Agenda 2030 under the knowledge and technical expertise of the Small Arms Survey.

This website displays the work which has been undertaken between 2006 and 2015 on armed violence for the Geneva Declaration. The information is still available although the website will not be further updated.

The latest edition of the Global Burden of Armed Violence 2015: Every Body Counts was launched in May 2015. The report examines how a comprehensive approach to violent deaths can serve to track progress towards a peace and security goal.

Within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Goal 16 focuses on peaceful and inclusive societies, access to justice, and accountable institutions. The work conducted on measuring armed violence for the GD is an asset for the implementation of Goal 16.
